Health camp at Villivakkam to prevent cholera outbreak

Worried about imminent outbreak of cholera in M M Colony near Villivakkam, one of the worst hit pockets of flood fury, Sevabharathi organizers, prioritizing the locality for medical seva, they hurriedly got up a medical camp with a team of Doctors on December 16, early in the morning.  By noon more than 250 residents were benefitted by the medical advice and medicines at the camp.  In just four hours medicine worth Rs.25,000 was distributed to the worried residents.  People thronged Muthumarriamman Temple where the camp was held.  A sizeable numbers of Muslims seeking relief were conspicuous by their presence along the queue waiting for their turn.  As a back up to the medical seva, Sevabharathi volunteers fanned out into the locality and assessed the hygienic level prevailing. 

பெருவெள்ளம் படுமோசமாக பாதித்த வில்லிவாக்கத்தை ஒட்டிய எம்.எம் காலனியில் வாந்தி பேதி பரவிவிடுமோ என்ற கவலையில் சேவா பாரதி அமைப்பினர்கள் மருத்துவ முகாம் அமைக்க திட்டமிட்டனர். அருகிலிருந்த முத்துமாரியம்மன் கோயில் மண்டபத்தில் டாக்டர்கள் குழுடன் மருத்துவ முகாமை ஆரம்பித்துவிட்டார்கள். காலையில் தொடங்கிய முகாமில் பகலுக்குள் 250க்கும் அதிகமானவர்கள் மருத்துவ உதவிகேட்டு வந்து கூடிவிட்டார்கள். கவலை தோய்ந்த முகத்துடன் கூடிய அப்பகுதி வாசிகளுக்கு – அவர்களில் பல முஸ்லிம்கள் இருந்தது நன்றாகவே தெரிந்தது - நாலே மணி நேரத்தில் 25,000 ரூபாய் மதிப்புள்ள மருந்து கொடுத்துவிட்டார்கள். மருத்துவ முகாம் பணிக்கு வலு சேர்ப்பதற்காக சேவா பாரதி தொண்டர்கள் அந்த பகுதிக்குள் பரவிச் சென்று அங்கே உள்ள சுகாதார நிலவரம் குறித்து தகவல் சேகரிப்பதில் மூழ்கினார்கள்.
