Swadeshi Is mother, Atma Nirbhar Is Son

  On April 26, RSS sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat called the push for ‘self-reliance’ and ‘Swadeshi’, the next stage of “national reconstruction”. On May 12, Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned the term ‘Atmanirbhar’ meaning ‘self-reliance’ at least nineteen times. The Prime Minister’s push for ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (self-reliant India) amid coronavirus pandemic is being seen as an opportunity for RSS’ constant pitch for 'Swadeshi' model of development in the country.

 Two important developments ,  happened during total loockdown.  Tanjore “Netti works” , wood carving, and “Kovilpatti Kadalai Mittai" , ground nut candy, have been awarded the “ Geographical Identification, GI, by WTO.  A couple of hundred agriculture produce  or other products , grown, made in traditional manner in India were awarded with GI tag. About 50 produce/products from Tamil Nadu got this.  Erode turmeric, Panruti Jack fruit, Salem Mango, Madurai Jasmin, Palani Panchamirtham, Manapparai Murukku, , Srivilliputhur Milkgova, Kovilpatti Kadalai Mittai, Kumbakona brass/bronze works, Tanjre Netti , Dindukkal Lock,  Tiruppur inner garment etc are few from TN.

 The GI awarded[RN1]  to produce/products have  specific geographical origin, or made in traditional way unique to that region , posses quality or reputation due to that area. This recognition is reflection of  the quality and traditional way it was produced.

  In India there many more such produce/products  do not have  GI tag, but deserve, manufactured by society, craftsmen, small/micro industries. All units /product will get maximum stimulus in the economic packges announce last week    Govt will ensure capital, logistic, marketing support for them, who will play important role in “Atmanibhar"
