SC formula on temple management ideal

Furious reactions by the DMK and the DK criticising Union Minister of State for Tourism and Culture Prahlad Singh Patel's proposal to bring ancient places of worship under ASI control for better upkeep instead of control by respective state governments, would have been amusing if not for their sinister agenda of eroding Hindu icons and points of reverence since decades. Under the guise of state control through the HR&CE board, temple property and wealth has been systemically diverted for political purposes during the erstwhile DMK regimes in Tamil Nadu.

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad has clearly said since 1966 that the wealth accumulating in Tamil Nadu's Hindu temples is being contributed by believers and worshipers for their upkeep and Dharmic and welfare activities. Hence, believers and worshippers alone have the right to administer this wealth. It is high time politicians stop looting temple property in the name of government control. Politicians like DMK chief MK Stalin and DK leader Veeramani must stop poking their nose into the affairs of temples.

No government has any business running the affairs of temples. Politicians and Hindu adversaries and atheists like Veeramani or Stalin's late father M Karunanidhi have no locus standi in managing Hindu places of worship.

It is well known that the Dravidian-Left lobbies make a lot of noise on worship in Tamil in temples, but do not utter a word against the language of worship in Christianity and Islam. They happily say Amen in churches hoping to harvest votes. Their double-speak has been fully exposed.

Way back in 1966, the VHP had demanded that temples should be free of politician control. A separate board for temples should be created and administered by a group of spiritual elders, monks, clergy and Hindu movement (non-political) personalities, much like the Supreme Court's formulation of creating a Trust for constructing and running the Ram temple in Ayodhya. That alone is the permanent solution for maintaining temples, protecting property and practicing puja.
