Honorable Governor of Tamilnadu Sri Banwarilal Purohit participated in Makar Sankranti festival celebrated today at Sadurangapattinam, Kalpakkam with members of Fishermen Panchayat and villagers. Nearly 700 villagers participated in the function. Panchayat Committee felicitated the Governor with Poorna Kumbh. Go-matha Pooja and Deepa Aarthi at Utthkaatu Amman village temple were part of the event. Addressing the audience, Honourable Governor highlighted the importance of sun and its worship. Pongal is important due to its scientific, economic and cultural values associated with it. He emphasized on the role of cow and bull in our culture and their role as a member of family and not just as an animal. He wished everybody a happy pongal and also wished all the villagers prosperity and wealth in their life.
