RSS held two route marches in Chennai on Sunday , October 21, to celebrate the 94th foundation day. The south chennai event was held at The Shankara Matriculation school in Urapakam. 1058 volunteers of RSS marched to rhythmic band along the GST road. Shri S Perumal , a leading entrepreneur presided. He also released a book on the RSS based on the recent 3 day lecture by RSS chief.
Shri Guru Subramanian , coordinator of Social harmony wing of RSS in his address said that RSS celebrates events as a social event . In our tradition festivals are as per the movement of stars and are scientific. Talking about the Sabramala issue , he said that , the temple is under constant siege by forces inimical to Hindus. About 12 years ago there was a sabotage that lead to a major fire in the temple. After that controversy was created on the Makara jyothi. The devotees and RSS together are leading a peaceful and determined struggle against the current crisis.
Again an outrageous attempt was made a few years back by the then government to take away 5 hills from Thirupathi and to restrict to just 2 hills. This was thwarted by massive protest from saints across the country.
RSS strives for realising one well, one burial ground and one temple common to all. RSS has conducted numerous programs based on spirituality to unite people. In Cuddalore and Villupuram
districts great harmony was achieved through various spiritual programs
A shining example is the Shivarathri celebration at Thiruvadhigai where all castes come together to do abhishekam to the lord. Over 1.5 lakh people attend the event.
In Tamilnadu at 228 places Amman Rath with Amman idol was taken in a rath to all areas including the SC/ST localities was conducted. The chief priest in the rath yatra was a dalit . In some places when the men tried to stop the yatra , women folk took the lead to get the amman rath into the village.
RSS has been championing the cause of social equality right from its inception by being a casteless organisation. RSS shakhas are uniting people of different communities like in Kallakurichi where a temple festival was stalled due to caste conflicts was revived by shakhas that were started in both the localities.
