There was a widespread report from newspapers that around 250 so-called Dalit families threaten for conversion to Islam at Vedaranyam, Naagai District of Tamilnadu. On investigation, it is reported as under.
Bathrakaaliamman in Kallimedu Village, Vedaranyam, Naagai District is being worshipped by all communities for many years uninterruptedly. For the past four years, there has been an issue related to ritual (Thiruvizha Mandakapadi) of the temple festival with Hindu Religious, Charitable and Endowments Board. Negligence on the part of HR&CE has resulted to widespread anxiety among the village people. Villagers approached the Court. Even after, the district administration had been so negligent on the temple issue, resulted in unnecessary tense during the Aadi month Amman festival. As the issue was pending, it paved the way to some forces to utilise the opportunity to make a call for conversion. A team presided by Shri Bakthavatsalam, State Organiser, Hindu Munnani along with District Secretary A V Sanilkumar, District President K S Vijayan met the Village representatives. They discussed on the issue. It is found that the “temple executive officer and District Office Bearers’ were responsible for worsening the situation. Pazhankallimedu Hindus acknowledge the work done by some separatists’ forces in splitting for their gains. Even the district police Officers failed to deal with the issue and has worked to conceal flaws. It is learnt that the villagers announced for conversion ONLY to teach lesson to district administration. Knowingly, the Police has allowed and supported the proselytizing act by Muslims. Lakhs of devotees worship Bathrakaali Amman (kallimettu) every year. Public fears about the widening controversy arising during the festival time.
Hindu Munnani appeals the Government to intervene immediately to resolve the temple issue which is under HR&CE administration.
நாகைமாவட்டம் வேதாரண்யம் ஒன்றியத்தில் உள்ள, கள்ளிமேடு பத்ரகாளியம்மன் கோவிலில் உள்ள அம்மனை பலஆண்டுகளாக அனைத்து சமுதாயமக்களும்தங்குதடையின்றி வழிபட்டுவருகின்றனர். இந்தநிலையில் கடந்த நான்கு ஆண்டுகளாக, திருவிழா மண்டகபடி சம்பந்தமாக இந்து அறநிலையதுறையுடன் அப்பகுதி மக்களுக்கு பிரச்சனை இருந்து வருகிறது. பழங்கள்ளிமேடு மக்களின் பிரச்சனையை தீர்த்துவைக்க இந்து அறநிலையதுறை அலட்சியம் காட்டி வந்த காரணத்தல் அந்த மக்கள் நீதி மன்றத்தை நாடியுள்ளனர் அதன் பிறகாவது மாவட்ட நிர்வாகம் இந்தபிரச்சனையில் கவனம் செலுத்தியிருக்க வேண்டும், அரசுநிர்வாகம் அலட்சிய போக்குடன் நடந்துகொண்ட காரணத்தால், ஆண்டு தோரும் கோவில் திருவிழாவின்போது தேவையற்ற பதட்டம் நிலவிவருகிறது. மேற்கண்ட கோவிலை கையில் வைத்திருக்கும் அரசும் மாவட்ட நிர்வாகமும் திடமான முடிவு எதையும் எடுக்காமால் பிரச்சனையை ஒத்திவைத்து கொண்டு வருவதால், மேற்கண்ட பிரச்சனை தீண்டாமை பிரச்சனைபோல் உருவெடுத்து மதமாற்ற சக்திகள் கிராமத்தில் ஊடுருவ வழிவகுத்திருக்கிறது, இந்தநிலையில் இந்துமுன்னணி மாநில அமைப்பாளர். க.பக்தவசலம்.அவர்கள் தலைமையில். மாநில செயலாளர் அ.வா.சனில்குமார். மாவட்ட தலைவர். K.S.விஜயன் ஆகியோர்கொண்ட குழுவினர். பழங்கள்ளிமேடு மக்கள் மற்றும் ஊர் முக்கியஸ்தர்களை சந்தித்து உண்மை நிலவரத்தை கேட்டறிந்தபோது. ஆலய நிர்வாக அதிகாரி மற்றும் மாவட்ட நிர்வாகத்தினர்களே.இப்பிரச்சனை மோசமான நிலைக்கு செல்ல காரணம் என்று தெரியவருகிறது, இந்துசமுதாயத்தினரிடம் பிரிவினையை ஏற்படுத்தி அதில் ஆதாயம் பெற சில பிரிவினைவாத சக்திகள் வேலை செய்துவருவதை பழங்கள்ளிமேடு இந்துக்கள் புரிந்துகொண்டுள்ளனர் மேலும் காவல் துறையும் தன் பங்கிற்க்கு இந்த விவகாரத்தை தவறானமுறையில் கையாண்டு அரசின் குளறுபடிகளை மூடிமறைக்க வேலை செய்துவருகிறது, மாவட்ட நிர்வாகத்திற்க்கு பாடம் புகட்டுவதற்க்காகதான் பழங்கள்ளிமேடு கிராமத்தினர் மதம்மாறபோகிறோம் என்று அறிவித்துள்ளனர். காவால்துறையினர் இதை அறிந்திருந்தும், முஸ்லிம் அமைபினர்கள் குரானை திணிப்பதற்கு அனுமதியளித்துமதமாற்ற சக்திகளுக்கு ஆதரவாக செயல்பட்டுள்ளனர். கள்ளிமேட்டு பத்ரகாளியம்மனை ஆண்டுதோறும் லட்சகணக்கான பொதுமக்கள்வழிபட்டு வருகிறார்கள், ஆடிமாத கோவில் திருவிழாவான இந்தசமயத்தில் கோவிலை பற்றி சர்ச்சை எழுவதால் பொதுமக்களிடையே அச்சம் நிலவிவருகிறது, எனவே கோவிலை கையில்வைத்துள்ளஅரசு நிர்வாகம் இதில் தலையிட்டு இந்தபிரச்சனைக்கு உடனயாக தீர்வுகாண வேண்டுமென இந்துமுன்னணி கேட்டுகொள்கிறது.
