A programme on sharing
of experience by swayamsevaks in Chennai Floods disaster was organized in
Sakthi Karyalaya today. Representatives
of centres across Chennai, Pondicherry, Kanchipuram, Cuddalore narrated the
memorable experience on ground in rescue and rehabilitation work. Shri Mohan Bhagwat is on an official
organizational two-day tour in Chennai.
Earlier, Prant
Pracharak Shri P M Ravikumar ji described the swayamsevaks participation in
relief work. As per latest available
data, 1350 persons were rescued; 161 medical camps were conducted. Around 315 women and 78 men went on ground
for counseling for nearly 17 days; 4550
families were benefitted so far in counseling.
1,75,250 families were benefitted with kits. 21.6 lakh food packets were distributed.

Bhagwat presided the programme and addressed the gathering. “During disaster, naturally humanity in every
human-being comes out. A swayamsevak is
a person who has to do seva and do seva to the person who does seva also. Society is God. Many rise to occasion and there was a
stimulus that kept active. But we
swayamsevak need to be more active now as rehabilitation is there. We have to think on the need; serve the
society continuously till it reaches the ‘last man in the last row’. Being
Sarsanghachalak the best suitable word to pat you is ‘Sabaash’, said Shri Mohan
Bhagwat.
