Bharatiya views on women - Two day columnist meet at Jaipur

A two day meet of columnists was held at Durgapura, Rajasthan on September 12 and 13. The symposium, organised by Prachar vibhag of RSS, was attended by 130 columnists from Maharashtra, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttranchal, and West Uttar Pradesh.

While delivering the valedictory address, Sarsanghchalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat observed that  Hindu philosophy is the basis on which  contemporary issues and problems are to be viewed. The Hindu view of life being holistic, it considers man and woman as two manifestation of the same entity. Hence it emphasizes oneness rather than equality. Shri Bhagwat said that the worth and relevance of the family system of India is intact amid all challenges. This is a strength of Hindu society. Therefore, in addition to identifying our roots, we have to continually strengthen it; it is then that our society acquires the strength to face invasions such westernization. 

The Bharatiya tradition accommodates all that is good in the world by rejecting blind beliefs. It is this way that the society could be organized and will be in a position to effectively carry on the work of enlightening the world about the purpose of life and the path to attain it. 

Bhagwat said that the need of the hour is to think in terms of scientific compatibility of Hindu Dharma and to reject those which do not fit in with the scientific criteria. It is the Hindu Dharma alone that has the capacity to take forward the evolutionary process of creation in a spirit of samanvaya and we have to combine contemporary circumstances with our eternal values to forge ahead, added Shri Bhagwat.

Prof. Rakesh Sinha, Advocate Monica Arora, Dr. Suvarn Rawal and Smt. Mrinalini Naniwadekar presented their views on deliberations on women in Hindu philosophy, media, and challenges for women in politics and judiciary respectively.
