The International
Festival of the Game of Football has justbegun. The World Cup is an occasion
when the world comes together – in a common aspiration, hope and determination
– while trying to win the trophy each country expresses its own uniqueness,
separateness and will and in being part of the greater game where the world comes together, each country forms part of that
larger whole – the world family!
Football has been
a great unifier having admirers, fans, adherents and adepts across
civilisations, continents & borders. It has been so since ages – in ancient
India, as in ancient Greece the game of tackling the ball and hitting it around
with the foot was a hugely popular sport enjoyed by the vast majority – ruler
as well as the commoner.
At another
dimension too football is indeed a great leveler – as a game loved and played
by all sections and strata of society in a majority of the countries of the
world – this game deprives no one from partaking of its joys. Some of our most
enduring symbols of youth and youth power and youth potential are images of the
young in any part of the world, gustily and one pointedly playing football.
The game of
football exudes dynamism, energy, the power of will and conviction of reaching
the goal – it is a game which is dominated by the attempt and the urge to reach
the goal. It stands in contradiction to all that is static, stagnant,
stultifying – the constant speed and trajectory of the ball is symbolic of the
flow and vitality of life at a deeper level.
For us in India –
we have celebrated each such unifying occasion to reiterate our core civilisational
belief of the “world is one family” – “vasudhaiva kutumbakam” – the Football
World Cup Tournament is a manifestation of that civilisationalbelief through
the magic of ball. It is amazing to see how a ball unites the world!

Now that we have put all Red Indians in segregated zones as animals, now that we have made all black and creole inhabitants of SOUTH AMERICA a docile people by continuously keeping them brainwashed so that whatever they do , they do as their masters told them to do, we think we are already masters of the minds of people of South America and Africa with some exceptions. NOW THAT WE , WESTERN IMPERIALISTS HAVE MADE AFRICA ALMOST PREY LIKE US AND GIVE US FULL LIBERTY TO EXPLOIT, WITH NO CONCERN FOR THEIR ENVIRONMENT, THEIR GEOLOGICAL OR OCEAN RESOURCES AND CHINA AND INDIA HELP US TO PRODUCE MORE TO SELL TO THE REST OF THE PLANET, WE ALMOST CONTROL THE WHOLE WORLD.
BUT , SOME LEVEL OF OUR CONTROL OVER CHINA AND INDIA MAY VARY :
CHINA EMULATES OUR CAPITALIST SYSTEM MARVELLOUSLY WELL ALL BY THEIR OWN WILL , KILLING THEIR TRADITIONAL WAY OF LIVING, THUS PASSING ON THEIR OWN WILL, A SUICIDE ROPE AROUND THEIR NECK,
BUT , ALTHOUGH ECONOMICALLY THEY HAVE BECOME UNWILLINGLY OUR SLAVE , THEY AT LEAST CONSERVE A DISTINCTIVE LINGUISTIC DIFFERENCE, INDIA HAS NOT EVEN THIS LANGUAGE BARRIER FOR US TO INVADE THEIR PSYCHE . THANKS TO OUR BRITISH ANCESTORS WHO MADE THEM EXTERNALLY INDIAN BUT INTERNALLY SO BRITISH. IN THIS SCENARIO, WHICH PLACE RUSSIA FITS IN ? RUSSIA IS NOT TOTALLY FOLLOWING OUR ECONOMIC MODEL EVEN THOUGH BILLIONAIRES FROM THEIR COUNTRY IS ON THE INCREASE (A GOOD NEWS FOR US. WE HOPE WITH ALL FRENCH LUXURY GOING IN MOSCOW TO MAKE THEM GREEDY LIKE US FOR USELESS GOODS, THEY MAY FOLLOW OUR MODEL IN THE LONG TERM AND JOIN US BECOMING A SATELLITE LIKE CHINA OR JAPAN ) , THEY ARE STILL POSING MANY PROBLEMS FOR THE WESTERN TO APPREHEND AND COMPREHEND, AT LEAST IN THE SHORT TERM. What is given importance in the west is Individualism, the desire to desire without shame of desiring without sharing and with the obsession to take all for oneself without giving anything to even an ant.
ReplyDeleteAnd in India we used to put aside individual pride and over bloated ego to think collectively. we don't have the same idea of DESIRE and consider that desire should be bound by borders of DHARMA.
what has done this immoral desire rather GREED and the over bloated ego cult in France ?
Individualistic and egoistic mind set makes a mother of two children choose a lover abandoning the children and husband because she gives priority to individual pleasure, "her egoistic pleasure" is more valuable to her eyes than her children being left like orphans and her husband left alone with them.
This same trait in the Europeans makes them go after a tennis player's win and celebrating a lonely sailor with a lonely boat proving to the French that an individual has succeeded in circumventing the globe alone in a boat! What is the necessity? THE EGO is their GOD. The French just prey it...Take the cycle tour of France, the formula 1 etc...The Individual success is glorified.
You may think then how is that the FRENCH play football , a game that needs collective solidarity.
That football players are not the reflection of an average French is quickly understood if we examine their excessive salaries..in 100 000 dollars just in one evening what an average French will never earn in his whole life time !
Football is billionaires's investment and Sharu Khan and other actors have understood that games like cricket are the best way to multiply their money . why ? by getting thousands of tickets sold in one evening , they earn money of thousand days work of a middle class man.
Competition is their way of living while collective well-being is India's mind-set. Just playing football for making money is neither igniting sportive nor collective spirit !
Family unity, social unity everything is put aside and the more you show your arrogance, the more you bloat your ego, the more they think you are competent . This EUROPEAN TRAIT WILL NEVER DISAPPEAR.
Someone once said that religion is the OPIUM of the people, is not making your children stare at the idiot box (TV) for three or four hours is more addictive ? Do we need to encourage such "a popcorn eating and beer drinking " culture ? LET US NOT COPY ANYBODY. We live ONLY ONCE and let us live according to our "swadharma" not live in the body of somebody else whose values are based on greed and capitalism that in INDIA we are not accustomed with.
Do we need this type of imbalanced western mind where pressure is put on individual to win at any cost and money is the ulterior motive of any action ?
