Senior Pracharak of RSS Shri Harihara Nanda left for his heavenly abode







Bhubaneswar,(vsk) 11/03/2019: Senior Pracharak of RSS, Sr. Harihara Nanda left for his heavenly abode. He was popularly known as Harihar Da. He was the founder of Odia weekly magazine Rashtradeep. He was an eloquent orator, a prolific writer, an organiser par excellence, and a compassionate poet. Sri Harihara Nanda was the Ex Pranta Pracharak and Ex Pranta Karyabaha of RSS Odisha. He breathed his last today at 3:15 AM at Sum Hospital ,Bhubaneswar as he was suffering from old-age related ailments and was undergoing treatment. He was 84 years old. His body was taken to Utkala Bipanna Sahayata Samiti, where thousands of swayamsevaks and well wishers paid their homage. His niece Smt. Nivedita Nanda and her husband Sri Gouri Prasad Rath, a VHP official were present at his death bed.

Shri Nanda was born at Baliapati village near Langaleshwar of Baleshwar, Odisha. He graduated in Science as well as in Law from Kolkata University. After completion of his studies, he joined RSS as a Pracharak. After working as a Zilla Pracharak of undivided Cuttack, he took the responsibility of Rashtradeep ( a weekly Odia magazine ) . He has been working indefatigably for Rashtradeep as a founder Editor of the magazine till 1974 .Then he took the responsibility of Pranta Karyabaha of Utkala Pranta. Though, during his tenure, Odisha was not considered as a developed Pranta as per the RSS working structure, he managed to steer Sangha very well under the guidance of Pranta Sangha Chalak Late Sj Bhupen Kumar Basu and Ex Pranta Pracharak Late Shri Baburao Paldhikar, the pranta karyakarini was formed in an organised way.

Sangh was banned on 26th June 1975 owing to the declaration of emergency in Bharat. During that time Shri Nanda led the underground activities by Sangh against In Odisha. He played a pivotal role in inspiring the swayamsevaks during emergency. Shri Nanda was conferred with the responsibility of Pranta Pracharak when Ex Pranta Pracharak Shri Baburao Paldhikar was shifted to Kolkata as a Kshetra Pracharak just after the emergency . Shri Nanda’s role as a Pranta Parcharak was very long and enduring in Odisha where he actually gave a shape to the working infrastructure of RSS Odisha. He was also conferred with the responsibility of Agneya Kshetra ( Undivided Andhra and Odisha ) Kshetra Boudhik Pramukh ,Kshtera Prachar Pramukh followed by Akhila Bharatiya Sanyojak of Hindu Jagarana Samukhya after his role as a pranta pracharak got over. Even if he was relieved of his responsibility as Akhila Bharatiya Sanyojak of HJM, he has been continuously providing required guidance to the working of RSS Odisha.
He did the translation of the most popular book “Bunch Of Thoughts” as ‘Chinta Chayan’ written By Late Sarakaryavah of RSS Shri H V Sheshadri, in Odia in two volumes. Among His other writings, on the basis of dedication and sacrifices of RSS swayamsevaks the Odia translation of “Na Phool Chadhe Na Deep Jale” popularly named as “Apuja Dian” is considered to be one of the most inspiring literature. Other than this “Deshara Hatya”, “Mopla”, “Sangha Parichaya”, Odia translation of “Dashavtar” by Babasaheb Apte , “Lokasangraha” by Bhausaheb Bhuskute , “Sangha Vividh Kshetra and Tribidha Pathya” By Dattopanat Thengdi and “Shri Guruji Charita” by Ma .Ranga Hari are his most engaging works .His writing on “Harihara Nandanka Bharmana Kahani” is considered to be the most appealing travelogue in Odia.He has also compiled the “Santha Vani”, an episodic compilation of inspiring stories. His numerous patriotic songs are very popular among the swayamsevaks and outside. He contributed immensely towards the intellectual discourse on nationalism . A multi volume unpublished book called “Ma Narmade” is also attributed to his pen.

RSS Purva Kshtera Karyabaha Sj Gopala Prasad Mohapatra ,Utkala Purv Pranta Sanghachalak Ma Samir Kumar Mohanty ,Sah Pranta Karyabah Er Sudarshan Dash along with thousands of swayasmewaks and well wishers paid their homage at UBSS.
