In a most recent event conducted in Shri P.A. Ramakrishnan Memorial speech, conducted in Alwarpet, Chennai on December 2nd, the Special guest speaker for the evening was Shri. Makarand Paranjpe, the Director of the Indian Institute of Advanced Studies, since August 2018, (IIAS), Shimla, India. IIAS is a research institute, set up by the Ministry of Education, Government of India in 1964, but started functioning from 20th October, 1965. This building has housed many viceroys like Lord Dufferin, Governors General of India. Courses offered are in Social Sciences, Natural and Life Sciences and Humanities.
Director Makarand Paranjpe is an Indian Poet, with basic school education at Bishop Cotton Boys’ School at Bangalore, BA (HONS) in English from St. Stephens college, Delhi and University of Illinois, at Urbana. His earlier stints as professor were at University of Hyderabad (1986), Department of humanities and Social Sciences. IIT Delhi (1994) JN U Delhi (1999). To his credits he has written very many articles and books.
Excerpts from his speech at Chennai on threats to Hindu Unity,” Swami Vivekananda ji even before 126 years worked for the spread of Hindu Religion world-wide. As far as Tamil Nadu is concerned the Hindus are united. If the Hindus’ are not united, there is an inherent danger that whole of India will get defeated. When discussed about this is in detail, we are called as Racists. Owing to lack of unity amongst Indians, prior to independence, led to looting of our Country by Christians and Muslims. The Unity of Hindus’ is being undermined by violence, Maoism, Capitalism and Capitalists, Dravidian ideologies, because of which there are many threats to a Strong country like India. Prime minister Shri. Narendra Modi ji has been working towards uprooting these disruptive outfits who have been threats to our Hindus’ Unity”.
