Sevabharthi's Disaster Management team secures isolated survivors during the ongoing Kerala Floods.


Cochin : They were not trained to manage such a situation,but their skills at sea and an enduring love for the fellow human beings empowered them to ace these rescue operations. These champions of Matsya Pravarthaka Sangham under the flag of Sevabharthi lead the rescue in Alapuzha and Ernakulam areas hit by the fury of floods by escorting scores of fellow humans to safe zones.
These Selfless humans worked their magic in Aluva, Kundagloor, Pandanad, Venmany, Budhanoor, Kumarakam to name a few places. Equipped with Just 20 small boats, 2 big boats and a speed boat hundreds of people were rescued by them amidst the flowing flood waters. Around 60 volunteers from Aratupuzha was the cornerstone of this team.

In Parampuzha and Kuttanad rescue of around 600 survivors was effected by deploying 20 boats fitted with yamaha engines. In moovatupuzha and Kothamanagalam 10 boats were deployed by volunteers from Munabam and vadanpalli. Muzhikkal and Kurimasherri also saw huge sevabharthi efforts. This effort was led by Matsya pravarthaka Sangh volunteers from Payyoli, Koyilandi , vellayil and Marad.
In Kottayam district sevabharthi currently operates 27 centres . Material and food packets worth 7 and half lakh rupees was distributed yesterday. 75000 food packets were distributed in kottayam district.52 Vehicles have been used for relief operations throughout the district.

18 camps have been opened in Ernakulam district . 11 camps in Idukki . Trees which were posing danger to populace was chopped down. Reclaiming and cleaning work was conducted in multiple homes. These acts of seva was done by 100's of workers from various parts of the state.

In kollankot 48 camps have been opened , 3133 survivors from 767 families are currently being taken care of in these camps.580 volunteers have been deployed here.

In Wayanad district 128 centres are being run .23 tonnes of rice 4600 Qn of vegetables has been used. Garments worth 4,50,000 has been distributed . Two godown has been opened in Kannur and thalserri for supply chain and logistics. 10 tonnes of rice has been sent to wayanad.
