As many as 500 volunteers of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) engaged in providing services to devotees during Rath Yatra in Puri.
The RSS volunteers provided nine kinds of services which include ambulance services, first-aid healthcare centres, stretcher seva, ambulance corridor, mobile drinking water supply, drinking water supply, assistances to patients in hospitals and information centre.
On the first day of the Rath Yatra, Swayamsevaks had taken as many as 42 patients to the hospital. Similarly, they carried as many as 40 patients in stretchers to the hospital. They assisted 270 patients and distributed free medicines to them. As many as 350 Swayamsevaks created an ambulance corridor on the grant road.
Earlier, RSS Odisha east zone Sangha Chalaka Sameer Kumar Mohanty inaugurated the programme at the Singhadware in the morning.
