Observing
the martyrdom day of Shri Mahatma Gandhi at a gathering of Sri Lankan Tamil
Scholars in London, Shri Tarun Vijay, Rajya Sabha MP, appealed them to protect the Tamil
language wherever they work as this is the only identity that gives them a sense
of belonging and pride. "You are fortunate to have the inheritance of
Thiruvalluvar, who has given this planet a unique gift of Thirukural. Have the
message of Thirukural spread world over, the strife torn world needs-Thirukural
more than ever”, he said. Silver plaque of Thiruvalluvar’s image and Thirukural
books are presented to the President of Sri Lankan Tamil Forum. Shri Shyam Parande, Sewa International was
also present on the occasion.
Emphasizing
‘Swachch Bharat’ a calendar with messages from Thiruvalluvar’s life was
released by Shri Tarun Vijay in an event organized by Indo-Srilankan Cultural
Forum. The calendar was published by
Tamilnadu’s Scavengers’ Liberation Forum President Shri M Pugalendi.
In
yet another event, a book on ‘Thirukural’ written by Shri Gopalakrishna Gandhi
was presented to Indian High Commission Shri Navtej Sarna, in London urging him to spread its message amongst the youth
in UK for strengthening threads of peace and mutual understanding.
