Maa Ashok Singhal (89), a vibrant
Hindu leader passed away today at Medanta Hospital, Gurgaon. Born on 27th September 1926 (Ashwin
Krishna Panchami) in Agra, was brought up with religious atmosphere at home
inculcating a sense of affection for Hindu Dharma. While he was in 9th standard, he
was introduced to the rich heritage and spiritual poweress of Saints in every
walk of life. In 1942, Rajju Bhayya introduced him to Sangh.
He became a pracharak of RSS working in
various fields of society. He served as
Prant Pracharak for Delhi and Haryana.
At the time of partition in 1947, when congress leaders were celeberating the newly aquired power, patriots were worried about the future of the country in the hands of such power hungry people. AshokJi was one among such patriots. Hence he decided to devote his life for Sangh. Classical music was Ashokji’s congenital hobby. Many Sangh songs have been tuned by him.
Emergency was imposed between 1975 to 1977 and Sangh was again banned. During this period, AshokJi galvanized masses against the dictatorship of Indira Gandhi. Post emergency, he was assigned the responsibilty of Delhi Prant Pracharak. In 1981, Dr. Karan Singh organized a huge Hindu Conclave in Delhi but the major force behind that concalave was of AshokJi’s and Sangh’s. Later on AshokJi was handed over the responsibilty of Vishwa Hindu Parishad.
Other dimensions such as Dharma Jagran, Sewa, Sanskrit, conversion, cow protection etc got associated with the work of Vishwa Hindu Parishad in the due course. The most important of all was the Shri Ram Janambhoomi Andolan which marked the presence of Vishwa Hindu Parishad in villages. This movement transformed the social and political direction of the country. This movement proved to be a mile stone in Indian history. If Vishwa Hindu Parishad is known today worldwide, much of the credit goes to AshokJi for the same.
AshokJi has been visiting countries worldwide for the expansion of Vishwa Hindu Parishad work. He visited England, Holand and America in the month of August-September for a month.
RSS Sarsanghachalak
Shri Mohan Ji Bhagwat stated, “Whole world is deprived of Ashokjis noble
presence”.
RSS Sarkaryavah Shri
Bhayya Ji Joshi and other Sangh leaders have condoled the demise of Ashok
Ji.

He was a noble Soul. His greatest desire was to see the grand Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Alas, he passed away without seeing it in this life ! I am sure he will take re-birth to fulfill that dream ! May Ishwara grant him his wish in his next life! Jai Shri Ram!
