Inclusiveness No.1
The true spirit of inclusive India was at display during the 68th Independence Day celebration at Velliveethiyar Corporation Girls Higher Secondary School, Madurai, where Bharathi Kannamma, a transgender, was invited to hoist the national flag. Kannamma said that it was a proud moment for the entire transgender community, which after 67 years of being pushed to the fringes was finally getting to enjoy the fruits of hard-earned independence.

Inclusiveness No.2
Another example of inclusiveness, that too in the political arena was witnessed last week. Dr. Smt. Thamilisai Soundararajan was appointed as President of the Tamilnadu unit of BJP. What followed was a series of congratulatory communications from every political dignitary in the State hailing from all warring political camps. The list runs likes this; Chief Minister Jayalalitha, DMK Chief M Karunanidhi, PMK Chief Dr. Ramdoss, DMDK Chief Vijaykant, etc.

The wonder that is Samskritam
Meet Kumari Durga. She lives in a hutment area in Chennai. Her father is a daily wage earner. After schooling she applied for a degree course. Only B.A. Sanskrit was available. Knowing not a word in Sanskrit she took the bold step of joining the course. She passed M.A. Sanskrit with a gold medal and presently she is a Sanskrit lecturer in a city college, all this because of her total devotion to the ancient language. Soon she will complete her Ph.D in Sanskrit. This is typical Tamil mindset, with a taste for the best.
