Mukund Varadarajan martyrdom an inspiration to Indian Youth

Recently, security forces launched a search operation in Karewa Malino in Shopian, 55 kms from South Kashmir following about the presence of three militants, two locals and a foreigner.  The militants were asked to surrender but they resorted to firing, triggering the gunfight.  An army Major and a soldier were killed in the operation. Shopian is part of Anantnag Parliamentary Constituency and the encounter took place a day after militants carried out an attack on a polling party escorted by police and CRPF personnel in the district at the end of the voting.

Major Mukund Varadarajan (22 Rajput, deployed with 44 Rashtriya Rifles) who was killed in the search operation is a native of Chennai and belongs to a family where his grandfather and uncle too served in Armed Forces. Mukund Varadarajan left his job in IT firm to serve the Army. Cremation took place at Besant Nagar, with full military honour paid and hundreds of people paying their homage to the departed soul at Tambaram.

Dr, Thamilisai Soundarajan, BJP paid her tributes and condolences to the grieved family. Sangh karyakarthas also paid their tributes to the departed soul.
The Indian Army, with selfless service to the nation, is one of the largest armies with 1,129,900 active troops and 960,000 reserve troops. Soldiers march with patriotic fervor safeguarding our borders, participating in wars and protecting our country. History of the subcontinent tells us that millions of soldiers were killed, thousands were wounded and missed unknown.  Yet, the patriotic fervor keeps driving millions of soldiers and our Indian Army won all the wars in post-independence period (except China war).
