To commemorate Swami Vivekananda 150th year celebrations and ‘Samskrita Dinam’, Samskrita Bharati of Chennai and ‘The Sanskrit Department of D G Vaishnav College has organized ‘Balotsavah’ an exhibition and cultural events at D G Vaishanav College on 24th and 25th of August, 2013. 1000 children from top 60 schools have participated in the cultural events. About 40 learned persons from various walks of life responded to the call of ‘Samskrita Bharati’ and officiated as Judges for these events. The students exhibited extra-ordinary talent in all the events thus giving a very tough time for the judges to evaluate their performance. Special mention must be made regarding the new event started as an experiment – Prakalpa Avataranam (Power Point Presentation). The students did extraordinary well covering wide range of topics like Vedic Maths, Ayurveda, Scientific Heritage of India, Yoga, Aeronautics, etc. Former State Health Minister Dr. H V Hande was the Chief Guest at the valedictory. Dr. P Haridas, Secretary D G Vaishnava College presided over the function. Sri N Kannan, Head e-page maker was the guest of honour. Sri B V Ganesh, Karnatic Singer had sung a song. Sri M Sriram, State Organising Secretary, Samskrita Bharati spoke on the occasion.
