Residentail Youth camp by Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh at Sydney

Sydney, May 8: The Sydney Chapter of the Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (HSS) held a 5 day residential youth camp between 22 and 27 April 2013 at Yerrinbool Bahai Centre of Learning.  35 Youths / students of both genders aged between the school grades of 8 and 11 participated in this challenging event.

The key concepts and activities explored at the camp were Yoga, Fitness, competitive games, Workshops and discussions about key issues that the Youth face on a day to day basis.  Specific attention was given to the Leadership value of Sewa or Service.
The camp was blessed by many notable and prominent personalities from the Australian and Hindu diasporas. The youth were riveted by the visit by the Hon. Victor Dominiello, Minister for NSW Governement.  Being of a young age and a prominent spokesperson for Youth affairs, he highlighted the need for service within the Australian community.  Later on, the minister generously spent his valuable time with the youth answering their questions over a sumptuous vegetarian meal.  He also highlighted the good work being done by HSS in promoting the positive integration of Hindu and Australian values which subsequently contributed to a robust multicultural Australian society.

The views and thoughts presented by the minister were reinforced by Saumitra Gokhale, the International Coordinator for HSS.  He emphasised the need for Younger generation to pursue the path of leading a simple and purposeful life with a focus on contributing back to this society
