Samskritam comes to Chennaities through Bhagavad Gita
It was a nice idea. Chennai Samskrita Bharati workers took Samskritam to the participants of a Camp through Bhagavad Gita. 15th Gita Shibiram (Residential camp) to create awareness about our scriptures in general and Bhagavad Gita in particular was organized at Chennai for 4 days. Various programmes in Samskrit like Gita Pravachanam, Sambhashana Abhyasa, Vyakaranam and the total Samskrit atmosphere kindled enthusiasm and interest among the 170 participants. Smt. Girija Raghavan, Editor of Tamil Womens ‘Ladies Special’ Magazine was the Chief Guest.  She emphasized the need of learning Samskrit in our daily life.  Sri Nandakumar Akhila Bharata Mahamanthri of Samskrita Bharati, Sri Stanumaalayan, Kshetra Pracharak of RSS guided the camp.  All the participants took sankalp to contribute in all possible ways to the150th jayanthi of Swami Vivekananda beginning from 23rd.

MDMK hails Gujarat development
“Gujarat has flourished only because total prohibition is being observed there. Why can’t the other States including TN follow the same,” said MDMK General Secretary Vaiko. He is known supporter for banned LTTE. He was taking to reporters in Madurai during his Padayatra’s demanding total prohibition.

Law and Order worsens in Kanyakumari, thanks to Christian belligerence
Kanyakumari District has a sizeable Christian population. Frequently that causes belligerent posters by that community. On Christmas day this year some Christian outfits took out a religious procession much against the standing order banning religious procession in Kulasekaram, Kanyakumari district soon after the 1981 Mandaikaadu Christian riots. The processionists had the temerity to clash with a peaceful BJP procession on the occasion of AB birthday.  Police had to take action against the processionists. Soon the two MLAs belonging to DMK and Congress both Christians rushed to the scene in support of their co-religionist throwing the police force into confusion. As a result, the law and order situation worsened in that area.
