December 6: Quaint Justice by Tamilnadu Police!

Tamilnadu police meted out a quaint justice on December 6, 2012. The day is observed every year ‘Vijay Diwas’ – to underline Hindu solidarity in Ram Janmabhoomi Movement . Over 1000 Hindu demonstrators participated in the event in Chennai. But police denied permission in all places. All were arrested and over a dozen were remanded. Contrast this with unruly rallies by Muslim outfits on the same day observing it as ‘Black Day’; every Black Day demo was given permission and protection by police. Observers wonder whether expression of Hindu solidarity is bad and expression by other communities is good – as per police perception!

Netravathi-Hemavathi River linking a permanent solution for Cauvery dispute

Linking of Netravathi with Hemavathi River, a tributary of Cauvery would double the flow of water. “This will permanently settle the disputes between Karnataka and Tamilnadu and it is a win-win situation for all stakeholders”, says Dr. S.Kalyanaraman-who has been studying the feasibility of interlinking the major rivers in the country for the last two decades. Further pointing on the techonology and water he said, “I would like to make a radical suggestion, because water is life and somehow the population of the world should get the water needed for survival. Desalinate seawater using boats carrying mini-nuclear power plants and pump the desalinated water back into the rivers. I am told that the Indian plant working in Kalpakkam can produce desalinated water at the cost of 7 paise per litre”.

HINDU WORLD: A New Glimpse Surfaces

Hindu culture spreading worldwide is old news. What is new is admission by other societies of this fact. A recent example is that of Japan. The fortyseven letters of the Japanese alphabet are said to have been devised after the pattern of the Sanskrit alphabet by the Japanese Buddhist saint Kobo Daishi (774-835 AD). The arrangement of the Japanese syllabary based on the Sanskrit system is also attributed to the influence of Bodhisena in Japan, which, according to Riri Nakayama, “will continue as long as the Japanese language continues to exist".
