Traditional Sankranti performed at Seashore
The traditional Sankranti function of Chennai was held on the sea shore of Foreshore Estate on 15th January at 6.15 a.m. The function was celebrated by the Swayamsevaks of Chennai along with the fishermen families. Suryanamskar was performed by the Swayamsevaks exactly at the stroke of sunrise. After which Pooja and Arati was performed to the Sea Goddess with a prayer for the welfare of the world. Soon after the function, Sri H S Govinda, Kshetra Pracharak Pramukh addressed the gathering highlighting what exactly is revolution according to Hindu thought. This was followed by Pooja and Arati to the Amman Deity with Sweet Pongal as Prasad, prepared by the Swayamsevaks (around 650 in number) partook the Prasad along with the fishermen.
150th year Celebrations of Swami Vivekananda
150th year of Swami Vivekananda Jayanthi, was organized by Vivekananda Youth Forum (Project of Naalaya Bharatham) at Presidency College NSS unit (a famous Government College). 79 boy students & 28 girl students participated in the function. Shri.Prakash, Vibhag Saha Karyawah highlighted the importance of patriotism from the works of Swami Vivekananda. Presidency college Principal Dr. P.S.Raghuram gave presidential address. Presidency college NSS unit Professor Mr. Damodharan also participated. All the participants were highly motivated by the programme.
Thiruvellikeni Swayamsevaks offered pushpanjali to mark the 115th Birthday Celebrations of great patriot Nethaji Subash Chandra Bose.
