Photos during protest demo in Chennai by Hindu Munnani

For decades, installation of temporary Vinayaka idols was smooth in Chennai and Tamilnadu. This year, Chennai City Police are on rampage against installation of temporary Vinayaka idols. Police have gone to the places where idols are to be installed and have demolished the sheds and wooden platform on which idols are to be installed and indulged in threatening office bearers and committee members of Vinayaka Committee in local areas. In one such incident, the parents of the members and office bearers of the Committee including ladies have not been spared, beaten badly till he was bleeding in the nose, mouth and head. In many places, Office bearers and Committee members were detained in the police station for several hours and were made to sign the printed forms stating that they will not indulge in installation of Vinayaka idols. In many places, police have removed the Vinayaka idols from the place where they were installed and have taken them to police station.
