20 Red Sanders smugglers
mostly belonging to the State of Tamilnadu were killed by AP police Officials in the Seshachalam
forest, Chitoor District, Andra Pradesh on Tuesday.
Condemning this incident, ABVP National
Executive Member Dr. Subbiah has stated, “Yesterday AP Police have resorted to
firing on 100 odd people suspected to be involved in cutting red sanders to be
smuggled out and 20 of them were killed on spot. We should understand that those who have been
killed were driven by absolute poverty, their own urge to earn money even by
illegal means. It is failure of
Tamilnadu Government who are not bothered about masses but about interests of
one single lady all the time, everywhere and in everything…..
Definitely mass firing
and killing is not a method to deter people from indulging in illegal
activities. Opening fire to kill should
be last resort in enforcing law.
Nature is God’s gift to
mankind and we should educate about it through formal education system and
impart adequate moral values too.
ABVP Tamilnadu unit
strongly condemns the action of AP Police who seems to have resorted to firing
on a mass without proper warning and preventive action. We also condemn the apathy of Tamilnadu
government which is not at all bothered about poverty of its people. We suspect wrong policies including liquor
sale by TASMAC, preoccupation present Tamilnadu Government to save its party
leader from legal tangles has also contributed to this present scenario.”
