Say No To Communal Reservation: Hindu Munnani
Political parties supporting reservation based on religion should be rejected in the ensuing Lok Sabha polls, says Shri Ramgopalan of Hindu Munnani in a statement on January 31. It follows the several demonstrations across Tamilnadu by a fundamentalist outfit, the Tamilnadu Towheed Jamaath (TNTJ) on January 28, demanding that the State and Central Governments should raise the reservation for minorities from 3.5% to 7%. Ram Gopalan cautioned that the demand is born out of divisive mentality. He pointed out that the increase in reservation for minorities will end up only in depriving the OBC and MBC sections of Hindu society of their legitimate share in jobs and education.
Rajkumar: A Typical Indian
Meet Shri Rajkumar, a 37 year old Chenaiite (resident of Ramakrishna Math Road, Mylapore). He works for a real estate firm. On February 4 he noticed a bundle of currency falling from the pocket of a two wheeler rider speeding ahead of his bike while he was driving along a flyover near Pallavaram, on the outskirts of Chennai. Rajkumar shouted instantly to attract the attention of the owner of the bundle. But the person sped away without realising what had happened. Rajkumar stopped his bike and picked up the bundle. He found that the bundle contained Rs 25,000. He promptly handed over the amount to the police. Later in the day, the Pallavaram police have announced that the owner can claim the amount now in their possession.

A beginning has been made towards a total change in the unruly and unhealthy aberrations in the Malaysia’s most popular Hindu festival, the Thai Poosam at the Pathu Malai Murugan temple. The festival falls in the month of January. Lakhs of devotees participate in it. According to a report in the Tamil weekly VIJAYABHARATHAM of February 14, the change came about on account of concerted efforts by Hindu organisations led by the Hindu Sevai Sangam of Malaysia in educating the public. The healthy changes witnessed this year included: ** devotees came in traditional dhoti and saree. ** film songs along the Kavadi procession were conspicuous by their absence. ** so were the unruly noisy intrusive bike riders ** cruel and un sastraic offerings to the deity were avoided at the festival spot, goes on the report by Shri Selvakumaran of Chennai who was witness to the successful change for the better in a foreign land.
