Padasanchalan was conducted at all three locations in Chennai successfully. Even though police authorities denied (read - backtracked) the permission for the sanchalan at the eleventh hour after initially providing us with permission to conduct the functions. Swayamsevaks (in Poorna Ganavesh - see photos below) gathered peacefully and sang patriotic songs and prarthana and courted arrest after a symbolic padasanchalan. Pada Sanchalan scheduled on 26th Jan at all three locations in Chennai has been postponed to 31st Jan 2010.

350 Swayamsevaks in Central Chennai and
425 Swayamsevaks in North Chennai
attended the function and courted arrest. All detained swayamsevaks were released by the police after a short while.

What else can be expected from Dravidian parties.
ReplyDeleteTill date they kept cheating people of TN by preaching wrong ideology of Dravidian that is far enough to prove that TN people are not willing to come out of it. Some missionary gave word Dravidian long back in 1856 Arch Bishop caldwell this people used it as they are really Dravidian. Even this man only gave Aryan Invasion theory which too is fake.
RSS like cultural organization which has so many centers never heard about any arrest just because they are taking march fast, this is first time that in TN they where.
So called pseudo secular media kept complete silence on it.
City like Chennai has only nearly 1000 cadres, its shameful.
I think RSS chief must seriously think of expanding this cadres number in by setting time bound for it.

By denying the permission for peaceful and silent 'padasanchalan', the Chennai Police and TN Govt denied the rare spectacle of an event which only the nationalistic/patriotic RSS could have provided to the citizenry.The denial of the permission at the last moment, and the arrest of the disciplined swayamsevaks was anti-people and undemocratic.

ReplyDeleteI appreciate the whole thing. But, can RSS ditch this stupid uniform ( Khakhi and very daggy) and get somehting that is modern and will be worn proudly by young Hindus?The uniform reminds me of Madras traffic cop, waiting to pounce on you for " doubles"( two in a bicycle) crime!
